I travel all the time from rural Oklahoma for engagements all the way down to Norman for a session. Recently I enjoyed some time with Meagan and Ryan. What a fun couple with some interesting stories. The pup was the best!

LifeChurch.TV – SOUTH TULSA

Many know and many more may not know that I attend LifeChurch.TV’s South Tulsa campus in Bixby. Our church has seen amazing growth over the past 20 months. This image is the final in a series that started at the beginning when we were in a school and had just secured land for a new building. God is good!

My Floral Designer… My Friend… {Tulsa’s Floral Photographer}

A flower is just a flower… well maybe not. My floral designer, Anne Marie of the French Bouquet creates some of the most inspiring floral creations I’ve ever seen. When ever I was asked to shoot her most recent work, I was excited to see what she had created. I was not let down… The colors and textures were perfect and just inspiring!

Blog Fun: Can you tell the difference?

So I’m going to start a new little section here on the blog. I’m excited about it because it seems every weekend I’m at a wedding I usually approached by a friend or family member who has recently invested in a new camera and wants to talk photography.

I love to talk about photography, not so much the technical aspects, but the spirit and meaning behind the images. I love looking back at my work from and remembering the events that lead up to a particular exposure. What was the weather like, why where they laughing, who is that in the background?

I always tell my clients, I can’t remember what I did yesterday, but I can always remember what was happening the second I pressed that shutter and captured, for eternity, that brief moment in time. It’s truly the most rewarding job in the world. Legacies, are captured in still images….

Well, I digress, so anyway at my weddings I’m always asked why my images look the way they do. Is it my camera, I shoot with a 1D MK III or 5D MK II, is it my lens? I say no to all of these questions… it really isn’t the camera, it isn’t the lens, it isn’t the flash, it isn’t the photographer and I don’t use Photoshop!… It’s all of it put together!!

My equipment is nothing more then the tools I use to create my images. My cameras are chosen for specific reasons and for the type of events I photograph, but I can and do use lesser cameras with great success. Each piece of equipment has strength and weaknesses. As a professional, it’s my responsibility to know these and how to get the most out of the equipment for my client.

If you read my blog, you know I went to Disney with my family for a week back in March, as part of that trip I took two different camera’s with me. My beloved 1D MK III, and my Canon G10. There is a $3500 price difference between these two camera’s.

I’m going to be posting a series of photos that were taken with these camera’s to show how you can take great images with a cheap point-n-shoot and how you can take great images with one of the best camera’s on the market today.

For starters, here is a shoot from Walt Disney World, taken of the Castle that would be great for promotional ad. Can you tell me what camera took this shot? 1D or G10? Get it right and WIN a FREE session!

The Summit Club; Simply Elegant

So mark your calendar’s for Sunday, January 18th as the Summit club will be hosting an open house for those of you getting married and looking for a wonderful reception venue. I have the honor of being a part of their event so in preparation we did a little promotion shoot today so they will have images to use in their Tulsa World ads.

I wanted to show the elegance of the venue in such a way that you wouldn’t think it was a club. My model, Heidi did a great job of giving the look I desired. Destry Davis handled the hair and makeup with ease.
